"There's a little Imelda in all of us." #IMELDA

Imelda is an outline of one of the most well-known and influential women in contemporary world history. The 'beyond the shoes' documentary traces the life of Imelda Romualdez Marcos, concentrating on her period as the First Lady of the Philippines.

The documentary talks about how Imelda rose from humble beginnings to become one of the most powerful women in the history. Imelda back then was just a village girl, became a beauty queen and then met Ferdinand Marcos. She told that Ferdinand saw her across a crowded room and that was 'the beginning of the end'.

Beauty, for Imelda, triumphs everything. Throughout Ferdinand Marcos presidency, it was Imelda whose beauty and extravagant tastes took her more fame and power than her husband.

After watching the documentary film, I have varied feelings for Imelda. And I must say that she is narcissistic and disillusioned. I was amused when I saw her theories outlined in Sharpie on a sketch pad.

But "IMELDA", like the woman herself, is far more than just shoes. To quote, "There's a little Imelda in all of us."
